The all-new Vauxhall Combo-e compact van has gone on sale after making its worldwide debut at the Commercial Vehicle Show.
And since Vauxhall is the UK’s best-selling e-LCV maker, they say that business customers and fleets can now choose an electric van from its entire line-up.
The Combo-e is powered by a 50kWh battery to deliver a range of 171 miles.
And there’s just one electric motor that produces 136 PS, and the battery can be recharged to 80% of its capacity in 30 minutes.
Vauxhall’s electric vans
As with Vauxhall’s other electric vans, owners will be exempt from congestion charges and ultra-low emission payments.
There’s also a Benefit-in-Kind (BiK) tax rate of 0% which will be a big boon for companies.
The maximum payload for the Combo-e is 800kg, and there’s a load space of 4.4 m³.
This makes the van a practical choice, particularly for trade professionals.
Battery can be recharged in 7.5 hours
Vauxhall also adds a 7.4kW onboard charger, as well as the charging cable and when using a wall box, the battery can be recharged in 7.5 hours.
There are just three driving modes for the Vauxhall Combo-e – Eco, Normal and Power.
The latter delivers the maximum performance, while Eco delivers the maximum range and Normal gives drivers a compromise between energy efficiency and performance.
The Combo-e is available as a crew and panel van and in two lengths – L1 and L2.
Specifications for the Combo-e
From launch, there are two specifications for the Combo-e with the L1 versions having a near-side sliding side door, while the L2 offers two side access doors.
This is also a well-designed van that is packed with equipment, including a decent infotainment system along with DAB radio and Bluetooth connectivity.
There’s also Vauxhall Connect which will alert the breakdown and emergency services should the system detect the van has broken down or been involved in an accident.
Safety features include a full-height steel bulkhead and rear parking sensors.
The Combo-e Sportive adds a multimedia audio system, an eight-inch colour display and the firm’s FlexCargo pack with a fold flat centre seat that has a table, and there’s a fixed bench seat for two front passengers.
From later next year, the all-new Vauxhall Combo-e will be made at the firm’s historic Ellesmere Port plant, and it now sits alongside the excellent Vivaro-e, as well as the Movano-e in the firm’s electric van range.
Prices for the Combo-e start at £25,238 VAT for the L1, and £26,438 for the L2.
