The first plug-in hybrid commercial vehicle in the UK was the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV Commercial – and it remains a bestseller.
The firm says that sales grew by 44% between January and October, when they sold 235 of the specially converted vehicles.
This is, Mitsubishi says, a sign of the growing need from businesses to have a fleet that is more environmentally friendly.
The Outlander PHEV is also the bestselling plug-in hybrid passenger SUV in the UK too.
Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV Reflex Plus Commercial
The Japanese firm is also unveiling a new Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV Reflex Plus Commercial model.
This is a high-specification version of the plug-in hybrid with an 8-inch display for the infotainment system and smartphone connectivity.
The owners also get 18-inch alloy wheels, plus a reversing camera along with other items.
Outlander PHEV Commercial has four-wheel-drive
Perhaps the biggest attraction for the Outlander PHEV Commercial is that it comes with four-wheel-drive, rain sensing wipers, automatic headlamps and a rear spoiler.
The vehicle also features heated front seats, dual-zone climate control, keyless operation and a DAB radio.
There’s also a full load bay bulkhead.
The load area for the Outlander PHEV Commercial is one metre between the wheel arches, and 1.65 metres in length.
The commercial vehicle has a 500 kg maximum payload.
Outlander PHEV Commercial is an ultra-low emission vehicle
Another bonus is that the Outlander PHEV Commercial is also classed as an ultra-low emission vehicle (ULEV) and is eligible for the plug-in the grant from the government.
This means that a business could save £8,000 from the list price with the Outlander PHEV Commercial costing £25,390 OTR.
And as a low emissions vehicle, the Outlander PHEV Commercial is able to make deliveries in ULEV-designated zones, for example in central London.
It helps too that the Outlander PHEV has a range of 372 miles which means it returns the equivalent of 140mpg – a very attractive proposition for some businesses.
The offering from Mitsubishi for the Outlander PHEV Commercial includes free servicing, as well as roadside assistance for three years.
