All-new Ford E-Transit Custom details unveiled

There’s already a lot of interest in the impressive all-new Ford E-Transit Custom which is the battery-powered version of Europe’s best-selling van.

The electrified version of Europe’s best-selling van, the new Ford E-Transit Custom, will offer new customer experiences.

The Blue Oval says that the new vehicle will offer new customer experiences and uncompromised capabilities.

Other features include over-the-air updates and some of the industry’s first customer experiences.

The new model has been designed from the ground up and will deliver great levels of productivity for those buyers wanting to be impressed in the one-tonne van segment.

E-Transit Custom has been inspired by insights from businesses

Ford says that the E-Transit Custom has been inspired by insights from medium and small businesses and there will be digital technologies and cloud connectivity available.

The battery-powered van offers a range of 236 miles and has rapid charging facilities too.

The digital solutions are aimed at boosting working productivity with 5G connectivity and flexible workspaces, and interior features include the steering wheel folding to become a holder for tablets and laptops.

Ford also says that is ‘delivering assist system’ will help streamline the delivering process by automating parts of the workload to help improve security and save time.

Van will switch automatically on the hazard lights

So, when the driver puts the transmission into park, the van will switch automatically on the hazard lights and lock the doors when the driver leaves the van – and close any windows left open.

With keyless entry, the driver simply returns to the van and the doors will locked and the hazard lights switched off.

And, as should be expected, the new E-Transit Custom offers no-compromise with a payload of up to 1,100 kg.

There’s also a lower load floor that offers easy access and the van’s towing capacity is 2,000 kg.

Driving capabilities have also been improved with independent rear suspension.

Battery choices for the E-Transit Custom

There are two battery choices for the E-Transit Custom, either the 100kWh unit delivering 135 PS, or a 160kWh battery producing 217 PS. Both have torque of 415Nm.

The load volume for the new panel van ranges from 5.8 to 9.0 m³. The maximum load length for the van is 3,450 mm.

The firm’s telematics system also been tailored for the new van and will be offered for free for the first year of ownership.

A first for the segment

There’s also a roof-mounted airbag, a first for the segment, that allows dashboard storage for A4 files or a laptop.

The van also gets a 13.0-inch display that is angled towards the driver and will feature the firm’s Sync4 infotainment and communication system.
