The Renault Kangoo is one of the bestselling small vans in Europe and a new model will appear in 2022. Until then, the Kangoo offers a great small van to meet just about every need. There’s also the new Renault Kangoo ZE which is an impressive all-electric creation.
The Citroen e-Relay electric van is an interesting addition to the segment. Unveiled in 2021, the e-Relay, which is also known as the e-Jumper in other countries, has two battery choices and a range of either 73 miles or 139 miles. It’s the firm’s largest van and completes their bid to have electric choices for all of their models. It should meet a range of business and fleet needs, and the Citroen e-Relay is a comfortable and stylish van to drive. However, it is fairly identical to the Vauxhall Movano-e and the Peugeot e-Boxer since they are all built on the same platform.
Let’s face it, the Isuzu D-Max has always been a sound choice for those wanting a rugged pickup to meet a range of needs. The latest offering is still a reliable workhorse, and it adds improved driving dynamics and a more refined interior. There’s no doubt too that the levels of safety equipment are class-leading. The 2021 model is a big step up from the version it replaces and can still tow 3,500kg and has a payload of 1,000kg. Opt for the luxurious versions, and you’ll have a vehicle for business during the week and family life or adventures at weekends.
It’s something of a late entrant into the pickup market, but the Renault Alaskan offers an all-round and impressive offering. Mind you, it is based on the excellent Nissan Navara and this is the first 1 tonne pickup made by the French firm. It’s on sale from 2018 and the Alaskan has lots of equipment and offers a sound alternative for those wanting comfort and off-road abilities. Renault also says this is a ‘completely fresh approach’ to the pickup segment but that’s stretching things somewhat since it’s near identical to the Navarra’s cabin. It is however a good-looking vehicle and comfortable to drive.
